Jeff Davis Water & Sewer Commission #1 was formed in 2002. It was designed to distribute safe drinking water to rural residents in Jeff Davis Parish south of the I-10 corridor. Eventually neighboring towns within the district would be added to the system which was beneficial to each. PVC, Polyethylene piping and lead free components make up the 500 mile network of the distribution system that vary in line size with the maximum 12” line and minimum of a 3” line. Monitoring under the Lead and Copper Rule is a state requirement. Every 3 years designated sample taps within the system are tested for analytical results of lead and coper. Next sample test will be in 2020. Enhanced efforts to improve transparency and public information are vital when it comes to lead and copper plumbing in any water system. To date there have been no findings of lead service lines plumbing within the system. In the event that the customer or public has any knowledge of lead and copper plumbing within the Jeff Davis Water & Sewer Commission #1 system do not hesitate to report it so it can be addressed. Remember we are in this together.
